MAIN PURPOSE OF THE JOB

To maintain a clean, hygienic, and orderly office environment by performing a variety of cleaning and housekeeping duties.  
The Office Cleaner ensures that all office areas, restrooms, meeting rooms, and common spaces are neat, presentable, and compliant with health and safety standards. 

KEY AREAS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

General Cleaning 
  • Ensure cleaning tools and equipment are properly maintained and stored. 
  • Report any maintenance issues, damages, or safety hazards.
  • Follow health and safety regulations, including correct use of cleaning chemicals.
  • Support setup or cleanup for meetings, events, or functions when required.
  • Uphold confidentiality and respect company property at all times.
Daily Cleaning  
  • Sweep, mop, vacuum, and polish floors.
  • Dust and wipe down desks, chairs, windowsills, and office equipment.
  • Empty waste bins and replace liners.
  • Clean and sanitize restrooms and replenish supplies (soap, toilet paper, paper towels).
  • Wipe and disinfect door handles, switches, and high-touch surfaces.
  • Maintain cleanliness in kitchen/canteen areas, including washing dishes and wiping countertops. 
Maintenance and Upkeep
  • Monitor and maintain cleanliness of all high-touch surfaces, such as door handles, switches, and shared appliances.
  • Report any damage or breakages to furniture, fixtures, or equipment immediately to theOffice Administrator.
  • Identify and log any facility repair needs and potential hazards.

Supplies and Inventory
  • Track cleaning and bathroom supply levels, ensuring timely restocking and efficient usage.
  • Keep a register of supplies used and report monthly or as needed for procurement planning.
  • Ensure all cleaning materials and chemicals are stored safely and in accordance with health and safety guidelines.
Support and Coordination
  • Follow and maintain the daily and weekly cleaning schedule with accuracy and accountability.
  • Ensure cleaning duties are completed with minimal disruption to staff and business operations.
  • Handle confidential areas with discretion and respect for privacy.
  • Cooperate with the Office Administrator and support event setups or urgent cleaning tasks when required.

Weekly/Periodic Cleaning

  • Clean windows, blinds, and glass partitions.
  • Deep-clean carpets, upholstery, and other fabric surfaces.
  • Polish furniture and fixtures.
  • Restock cleaning materials and notify the Office Manager when supplies are low.

SKILLS AND ATTRIBUTES
  • Grade 12 (Preferred). 
  • Previous experience as an office cleaner or in a similar housekeeping role preferred.
  • Ability to work independently and efficiently with minimal supervision.
  • Knowledge of cleaning chemicals and supplies, and safe handling procedures.
  • Good physical stamina and mobility, able to lift light equipment and move between areas regularly.
  • Strong attention to detail and pride in maintaining a high standard of cleanliness.
  • Basic communication skills (written and verbal) for logging supplies and reporting issues.
  • Reliable, punctual, and trustworthy
